Rockdale Career Academy
The dual enrollment opportunities at Rockdale Career Academy are possible through partnerships with Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Georgia Perimeter College. Through our partners, we are able to provide academic courses and technical courses and programs on our campus, for local high school students. The offerings will vary, and are dependent upon student interest and demand.
Dual Enrollment Academics are offered at RCA and fit within our block periods. Students are able to take college courses during their regular high school day instead of having to work a schedule around course offerings on campus. The courses are taught by college faculty and earn weighted credit.
The courses offered are based upon student need and are the general academic courses required at most colleges.
The new Move On When Ready regulations (effective July 1, 2015) make Dual Enrollment courses an attractive option for high school students.
Above is the box of an ambulance, donated as the school opened in 2006, by Mr. Benny Atkins, owner of National EMS. National EMS has been a continual partner with RCA and is working with GPTC and RCA to provide the new Emergency Medical Technician program offered through GPTC Dual Enrollment at RCA.
Students who successfully complete the requirements of the program will sit for National Registry exam for national and state certification as an EMT.

Dual Enrollment Welding:
Mr. Harvey (left) is the Welding instructor for the GPTC Dual Enrollment class. The welding program is designed to allow students to complete one or two certifications.
