Presentation of the grant award to RCA Instructors by Dart Container Corporation employees and Foundation.
Several Rockdale Career Academy instructors applied for Grant money through the Snapping Shoals Bright Ideas Mini Grant opportunity.
The RCPS teachers who received grant funding are pictured below with Mr. Danny Stone from Snapping Shoals EMC and Mr. Rich Autry, Superintendent of RCPS.

Dart Foundation awards $5000grant to RCA
The Dart Foundation has awarded Rockdale Career Academy a $5000 grant to study and develop Robots and Drones and strive to encourage more participation of females in the development.
As the work gets underway, we will follow along!
On August 15, 2015, the NFHS Network (www.nfhsnewtwork.com) announced that the Rockdale Career Academy Video Production (RCA BVP) program is once again an NFHS Network Elite School. This designation places RCA BVP in the top 37 schools on the NFHS Network throughout the country.
Network President, Robert Rothberg states that the “Elite Schools produced an average of 72 events and covered and average of 6 sports.” Last year the production team from RCA produced over 120 live and recorded events covering all three Rockdale County Public Schools - Heritage, Rockdale, and Salem - as they took on teams from 6 states on their way to being a finalist in the NFHS Network Program of the Year award.
The live broadcast team working as RockdaleLive.com is currently producing broadcasts from all three county football teams. The production team from these games is done by groups of students from each of the home schools. The students work as camera operators and producers, handling the graphics such as the scoreboard and clock. “Filming live events is the highlight of my week. You get to go where only the media can and the coaches appreciate my work” says Heritage Senior, Randy Reeves.
RCA BVP looks to continue to grow by carrying additional teams from the county and other opportunities such as sponsor obligations. The Sports Broadcast Institute at RCA will also help the program grow as 40 students will help to create content for the live broadcasts including news, highlights, interviews and more.

Calling all future firefighters:
Rockdale Career Academy will hold an information session on
Wednesday, July 20, at 6 p.m.
for rising Junior and Senior students interested in taking Firefighting or Emergency Medical Technician courses next school year. These are college-level courses from Georgia Piedmont Technical College taught at Rockdale Career Academy. The session will be held in the auditorium at RCA.
