Two Rockdale Career Academy Video Production students were featured on Rockdale County Commissioners Chairman, Richard Oden’s Positively Rockdale on Rockdale 23.
Heritage Seniors, Mackensie Taylor and Makyle Wilkerson and Mr. White talked with Chairman Oden to talk about the Video Production pathway at RCA.

For the last two semesters RCA has recognized students who have achieved excellence in the classroom by hosting honors luncheons for those students who earned As in three or more classes at RCA. The luncheons honoring classroom excellence during the spring semester of 2015 were held on September 30th and October 1st. More than 85 students were in attendance, an increase from the 72 honorees in the previous semester. Honors students choose from expanded lunch options and celebrated with cake and sweet tea. In addition to serving as a chance to recognize prior high achievement, these luncheons are also designed to motivate students across the school to strive for excellence, knowing that it is recognized once achieved.

Thompson leading and learning through SBI
On September 3rd, Salem Senior and Sports Broadcast Institute Ellie Thompson worked with the Georgia State Athletic Director of Video, Sherik Hodge to gather footage of the Men’s Soccer team vs Mercer. This was an opportunity for Ellie to not only get hands on training in a real world environment but also to network and get career advice from a professional in the field.
The Sports Broadcast Institute is working with Georgia State to produce a number of broadcasts for their teams throughout the school year including football, basketball, volleyball, and Sunbelt Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament November 4 -8.
